    Sounds like routing. Can you traceroute (disabling
    name resolution... tracert -d in windows) to some
    IP address out on the Internet? Can you traceroute
    to your nameserver?

    Do the affected machines report this problem all at
    the same time, or seperately throughout the day?
    Does one machine work, and another one right next
    to it not?
