Hi,
We have a student working on an Access 97 database, and he's encountered
some odd behavior. Though the problem started occurring after importing
data, we believe the data are clean (though we're still looking at that
possibility). The error messages listed below also don't seem to 100%
predictable. When we copy the Access files to another computer, the errors
pop up at different times or in a different order, or sometimes the program
seems to work fine. One other piece of information: The Access file began
life as an Access 2000 file (at UCLA) and was then downgraded to Access 97.
We're ordering Office 2000 to see if the problem goes away. Has anyone
come across this kind of behavior in Access?
Thanks,
Chris Hoffman

Problems with Access 97 Database
We have a form that allows the user to create labels and memos based on
several selection criteria that draw the data from two tables that are
linked together by a unique ID number. Both of these tables have about
14000 records, with 30+ columns in each table.
Before all of the 14000 records were imported from another database, the
current memo/label form would work correctly when only 6 hand entered
records were in the two tables. Upon importing the 14000 records the form
stopped working entirely. The data was imported several different times to
make sure the import process went correctly but with no resolving of the
problem. All of the table properties were checked to make sure that they
were all the same as before.
The following errors occur when the form is being run.
Unhandled error #3061 Too few parameters. Expected 1.
Unhandled error #91 Object variable or With block variable not set.
Then it says: "The criteria you selected returned no records. Try using
less selective criteria."
These errors occur even when there are no restrictions put on the data
selection, in other words, even when I want it to make labels for every
record it gives me this error.
At other times it will give an error that says:
Unhandled error #5922 Word was unable to open the data source.
Both the labels and the memos have Microsoft Word templates generated on
the fly when the form is run, and the data from Access is put into a text
file that is saved on to the C: drive and then merged into the templates by
Word. Even if I go in be hand and choose to merge the files into Word and
click on the specific text file it says "Word was unable to open the data
source." But these files have perfectly valid information in them and can
be opened by themselves just fine.
