    anthony,

cns has begun a project on wireless lan (802.11). we're in the
evaluation phase and do not yet have a defined plan for wireless service
on campus. because access points, such as the airport, share the
same range of frequencies, user installed access points will likely
interfere with a supported campus service, when there is one. for example,
during our testing, my workstation associated with a rogue airport and i
ended up without a useable IP address. and, airports will provide
connectivity to anyone nearby who has a wireless lan card, whether you
want them on your subnet or not, whether associated with the university
    or not.

we're currently looking at the cisco aironet product. the good news is that
most wireless ethernet cards are interoperate with other manufacturers'
    access points.
