Subject: Emergency outage
Apologies for cross-postings, and for the short notice of this outage. Given
its emergency nature, we're trying to disseminate it to as wide an area as
possible.
============Emergency Outage notice================
One of the campus core routers, inr-100, is experiencing serious memory
problems. The router was reloaded this morning, but that did not clear up the
problems. CNS had been planning to upgrade the memory in this router, and
because of the seriousness of the current problems, we have moved up the date
of the upgrade. The router will be taken offline TOMORROW Friday, July 21 at
6:00 AM to replace and increase its memory.
If all goes well, the outage should last about 15 minutes, but it might take
as much as 30 minutes.
The affected nets are as follows. PLEASE note that some of these networks,
such as the 128.32.25.0/24, contain major campus systems, such as socrates
and uclink:
