We haven't upgraded to 6.0, but I had similar problems with 5.1d. Using the
dump from client selection on the server side almost always gave me images
that failed with a corrupt image file error message after attempting to
Ghost back down.
Booting into DOS with a network boot disk, mapping to the ghost share on
the ghost server, and then launching the ghost executable on the server
worked every time. You then just start the dump manually, selecting the
local partition(drive) and selecting somewhere on the mapped drive to dump
the file.
Concerning licensing,
We are also planning on going to Windows 2000, so we are also interested in
a campus site license for Ghost 6, but we are evaluating the Imagecast
program that Stefan listed. Looking through the manual, it looks like it
will do everything Ghost will do and maybe more. If someone is setting up a
site license for it, Haas is also interested in participating.
Thanks,
Forrest
