It's not like something gets "overlooked" when this happens. Web developers don't have to do anything special to make sites Mac compatible. It's not like "Oops, we forgot to make our site Mac compatible." It's the other way around - a deliberate decision on the part of web developers and their bosses to use non-standard, Windows- only technologies on the open web. It's never been a good idea, but is also a pretty archaic practice at this point.
