Requirements for AWS Extension Requests

AWS Extension Request Requirements:

The CalNet team will be discontinuing AWS service on January 5th, 2009
for all applications that have not explicitly requested an extension.
If you have an application that will continue to need AWS after
January 5, 2009, you *must* take the steps outlined below to register
your application and request an extension.

The CalNet team will grant a temporary extension to all applications
which have registered by January 2nd. All extension requests will be
forwarded to the Identity and Access Management Steering Committee for
review on January 8th, 2009.

1. Register for an extension, preferably before Friday, December 19th
and no later that Friday, January 2, 2009, by sending the application
URL to the CalNet team at:

calnet-admin_at_lists.berkeley

Your request must include responses to the following questions:
• For which application(s) are you requesting an extension?
• What function does this application serve?
• What length extension do you require?
• Which extension request meeting will you attend (see below)?

2. A developer or representative from your team must attend at least
one of two in-person extension request meetings with the CalNet team
at these dates and times:
• Thursday, December 18, 2008, 10-11am in 60 Barrows
• Monday, January 5, 2009, 3-4:30pm in 60 Barrows

Please note that the January 5th AWS Retirement deadline was set by
the campus-wide Identity and Access Management Steering Committee in
February 2008. The Steering Committee's communiqué was sent to campus
in March 2008. Since then, the CalNet team has sent out numerous
reminders to ensure developers were aware of the deadline.

The CalNet team hosted a series of workshops in September and October
during which CalNet and departmental staff presented a variety of
options for CAS-enabling applications. Documentation from all of these
workshops is posted on the CalNet website:
