The Chart of Accounts validation web service is in
the process of being updated. No changes should be user visible, it's
mainly pointing it at a new database server, and there are some new
rules in the tables that it uses for validating General Ledger chart
strings.
The new version has been installed on the qa server; its url is
http://coa-qa.berkeley.edu/coa/
If you use the COA service we're anxious to have you try the qa version
with your chart strings and verify that it works just like it used to.
Please share this information within your organization. If you have
any problems with the qa version of the COA service please let me know.
We are planning on moving it into production Friday, 7 November.
There are three ways you can validate chart strings, with a web browser
http://coa-qa.berkeley.edu/coa/browsers/browser-validate.html
With a standalone Java application
http://coa-qa.berkeley.edu/coa/clients/download-java-web-start.html
(Click on the Java Web Start link.)
And programatically via a SOAP web service (see the API and WSDL links
on the left of the COA page).
The more ways you can test it the better.
Thanks
