Update on Hyperion 9.3 beta for BAIRS

Overall the new version is working well, but there are some things we
are working on. A list of these is maintained in our Known Issues
List: http://www.bai.berkeley.edu/bairs/Known_Issues9-3.htm

The most significant issue is that Firefox in the HTML format is not
displaying all data returned properly. It is working in the sense
that the data is returned, available for export or printing, can be
viewed in the results section with a workaround (documented in the
Known Issues list), but it is not consistently rendered to the screen
on first load. This most impacts Mac users, as Firefox in this
format is their only non-Citrix option (and Citrix is still running
8.2). Windows users can use Internet Explorer or can use the plug-in
Interactive Reporting Web Client format with Firefox. This issue is
our top priority, and it is escalated with Oracle/Hyperion to their
top level of criticality. We are also testing a potential fix we
developed, but this is being done only as a fallback because it would
take a considerable amount of time to apply it to all reports. We
are recommending for now that only more advanced Mac & BAIRS users
adopt the beta until we release a solution.

Another problem for many has been the plug-in installation, which is
very slow when done through the Hyperion software interface. We have
arranged for the plug-in to be available through IST's Software
Central, where the zip file for it can be downloaded. The download
from Software Central is still lengthy, as the zip file is 163Mb, but
the installation is much
quicker.

We will continue to keep you posted on further developments. Desktop
support staff seeking help with technical issues such as plugin
installation should contact us through the special email address for
the upgrade, bairs_at_berkeley.edu. Your users (or if your question is
about functional use of Hyperion or BAIRS) should be directed to seek
our support through Enterprise Systems User Support (3-4250,
bfsbairs_at_berkeley.edu, or hrmshelp_at_berkeley.edu).
