Hi all.
I'm trying to do an "Archive Install" of an Intel Core 2 Duo iMac that's
about a year and a half old - what I believe Apple calls "iMac (Late
2006)" - one of the white plastic, "squarish" ones.
But, the only Intel Tiger install disks I have are system disks that
came with a more recent model of Intel iMac - the model with the rounded
back. And, when I start up the older iMac on one of these and then
choose English, it says it can't run on this computer.
I would have thought that a Tiger Intel disk would install on any Intel
iMac, but this seems not to be the case. Does startup fail just because
the install disk is a bundled disk, and Apple prevents it from being
used on any but the bundled model computer? Do you know if there is any
way to get the newer Tiger Intel system disk to perform an install on
the older Intel iMac?
Optionally, does anyone have a Tiger Intel system disk that I could try
on this users' white plastic Intel iMac? Apple no longer sells Tiger
disks, though I suppose if I knew what to buy I might find one on eBay.
Thanks -
Rob
