Upgrading Intel Macs from TIger to Leopard when they have Parallels/XP

I have a few users who are running Parallels 3.0/XP on Intel Imacs with
Mac OS 10.4.11.

We want to upgrade them to Leopard 10.5 but I'm not sure if I have to
uninstall Parallels first. Some postings at various discussion boards
recommend this strategy instead of doing a simpler Tiger to Leopard
upgrade.

Has anyone had any epxerience doing this.
