At a recent campus meeting, the folks working on this (sorry, can't
remember the names!) indicated that UCB was considering using all of
the Google Apps *except* for mail and calendar. Those seemed to be
off the table.

I know several faculty and students who have their CalMail redirected
to a Gmail account, and have configured Gmail to use their
berkeley.edu address as a return address. This pumps all of their
berkeley.edu mail through the Gmail interface, and they retain their
UCB identity.
