Thursday, May 15, 2008 - IST staff have confirmed with the vendor that we
reached the hard limit for some resources that are shared by all the virtual
firewall instances running on the primary Data Center firewall. This created
the network slowdowns and some intermittent connectivity problems for
several hosts and services located at the Data Center last week. Since it
has been several business days since the last recurrence of these symptoms
and an upgrade to the firmware of the Data Center firewalls to be more up to
date, IST is considering this unscheduled outage resolved.
IST staff is continuing to investigate the root cause of why one particular
virtual firewall instance was consuming such a disruptively high amount of
resources as well as taking steps to mitigate any future recurrence to
minimize the number of hosts and services that are impacted in the Data
Center.

Thank you,
