Resolved - Unscheduled Outage

At roughly 8:30AM a Ricoh printer started an SSDP multicast storm, resulting
in campus wide disruption of network and workstation function. This printer
has now been blocked from the network.

IST is working with the vendor and involved departments to update the
firmware and configuration of these printers to prevent this behavior,
however there are many of these devices on campus. Due to the nature of this
particular issue there is no good way to "proof" the network against it, as
the network is doing what it is supposed to. A network "solution" would
break more than it fixed.
