If you really want to cut down on the spam, Apple Mail has a 'Bounce'
feature. (There's also a bounce script available for MS Entourage.) I don't
known if Thunderbird has this.
Bouncing spam seems to have the effect of removing your email address from
the spam server. Very cool! (It helps if you bounce spam as quickly as
possible after it arrives. Repeat with the resulting error mail too. Usually
there's only one, but if there are more just delete them.)
This has eliminated almost all of my spam. I don't need to use any
filters... Now, if I could just get my friends to stop entering my address
on any web pages ...
