CalNet customer service is moving to the Cal 1 Card Office

http://istpub.berkeley.edu:4201/bcc/Spring2008/1133.html

Effective November 1, 2007, the Cal 1 Card Office will become the
primary provider of CalNet support to all UC Berkeley affiliates,
including faculty, staff, students, and department-sponsored affiliates.
CalNet support will no longer be provided by the IST---User & Account
Services walk-in facility at 2195 Hearst, however the office will still
provide support for CalMail, Departmental Domain email, and CalNet
Deputies. Details about each service follow below.

CalNet customer service at Cal 1 Card Office

The Cal 1 Card Office will provide drop-in, phone, and email customer
support for CalNet beginning November 1, 2007.

    Cal 1 Card Office
180A Cesar Chavez Center, Lower Sproul Plaza
Monday through Friday from 9:00 am to 5:00 pm
    calnetid_at_berkeley.edu <mailto:calnetid_at_berkeley.edu>
    Phone: (510) 642-4126
    Fax: (510) 642-4370

The Cal 1 Card Office can assist with general CalNet account questions,
such as, "Why can't I get into Bear Facts?" or "When I use my CalNet ID
to get into a website I get an error message, 'This CalNet ID does not
exist'". Effective November 1, the office can also verify customer's
current affiliation and status. They will also be able to assist
"incoming" undergraduate students who have not completed their SIR, with
CalNet passphrase issues.

Security guidelines currently used for CalNet will be practiced at the
Cal 1 Card Office. The office will not make passphrase changes. Instead,
tokens will be provided which customers will use to set up their own
passphrase. A photo ID will be required by email or fax before a token
is issued.

eligibility questions, and exceptional requests from departments and
customers. UAS can be contacted at accounts_at_berkeley.edu

        Background information about CalNet ID

A CalNet ID is an ID that allows members of the UC Berkeley community to
access various UC Berkeley websites. Students are assigned a student ID
number and PIN when they are admitted to UC Berkeley; the student ID is
also their CalNet ID. Employees and most affiliates are assigned an ID
when their data is entered into the Human Resources Management System;
this ID is both their employee/affiliate ID and their CalNet ID when
used in combination with a user-set passphrase. For more information
about CalNet ID, please visit the program's website
(https://calnet.berkeley.edu/).

The Cal 1 Card is Berkeley's official identification card. In addition
to serving as a photo identification card, it permits access to campus
buildings, events, and many University services, and also has a debit
account feature available to all students, faculty, staff, and
affiliates. For more information, please visit the Cal 1 Card Overview
<http://services.housing.berkeley.edu/c1c/static/c1c_overview.htm> web
page.
