Hi Jon,
I went ahead and forwarded your original email to MAGNet. Hopefully
someone on the list may have some recent experience with using UCBacup
with OS X.4.x.
Thanks,

Subject: [Micronet] Problems With Mac and UC Backup
[I'm sending this to both the UC Backup people and Micronet
since I suspect other Micronet people might have the same
problems I'm having when trying the with UC Backup on a Mac].
Dear UC Backup,
I'm new to UCBackup. I'm trying to get it going on a dual-proc
Mac G4 tower with 1GB RAM and OS X 10.4.10. I signed up for the
service and downloaded the client OK. But, I have some issues
when I actually try to run it.
1) Since I try to be a good citizen, I read the UC Backup documentation
before sending in a problem report. The first thing I noticed
is that the Mac documentation on the UC Backup web site obviously
describes a (much) older version of the client than what is available
now. Not only do the folder and file names shown no longer exist, e.g.
"ADSM Preferences" doesn't exist, but all the illustrations show
OS-9 style graphics.
2) The documentation mentions checking and perhaps modifying the TSM
Preferences file. As I mentioned above, the folder and file
name for this file in the docs is incorrect. Using Spotlight I
couldn't find any file containing "TSM" that looked like the
right file. Where is this file?
3) I did a manual backup, which I think was done correctly. I did
want to check by looking at a log file. The only log file I found
mentioned in the docs is "TSM Schedule Log" but apparently this
is only produced when you do a scheduled backup (see below). How
can I see what files are backed up doing a manual backup?
4) How can I save my folder/file selections when doing a manual
backup so I don't have to do them over each time I do a manual
backup?
5) I want to set up a scheduled backup that gets done automatically.
Although the docs says to "make sure the scheduler is running", I
couldn't find any place that mentions how to set up the scheduler,
or how to configure it.
It's entirely possible that I screwed things up when I installed
the client. However, the online UC Backup documentation is not
very helpful when trying to figure out what's going on. Please tell
me what I'm doing wrong or what I'm missing.
Cordially,
