Hello CalNet Developers and UCB Technical Community,
To accommodate the needs of departments who want to provide career
counseling and other services to former students, CalNet is planning
on extending the grace period for students from the current 3 month
period to a 9 month period. We plan to make this change on Sept 28th.
Students will still be marked in the LDAP affiliations attribute
(berkeleyEduAffiliations) as "STUDENT-STATUS-EXPIRED", and the
expiration date for the student affiliation (berkeleyEduStuExpDate)
will be updated as before, but the record will remain accessible in
LDAP so that those service who want to grant services to students who
are no longer registered, can do so.
For those services who do not want to offer service to students who
are no longer paying fees, please use either the affiliations data or
the student expiration date to determine if a particular person is
still eligible for your service. We strongly recommend services use
these attributes for a number of reasons. There is documentation for
these fields located at:
https://calnet.berkeley.edu/developers/documentation/
v2TransitionGuide/index.html#people
Then scroll down to the section entitled "People Entry Expiration and
Affiliation Retention".
If you have any concerns or questions about this change, please
contact the CalNet team at calnet-admin_at_lists.berkeley.edu.
Thank you.
-CalNet Team
