Calnet and AWS announcement

CalNet supporters and developers,

This message is to announce that although we now have over 56,000
synchronized passphrases between our old and new CalNet Kerberos servers, a
little over 1,000 CalNet users still do not have passphrases that are
compatible with the new service.

As a result, beginning next week we will begin a selective change to the AWS
pages to alert *only* those remaining CalNet ID customers with
non-compliant passphrases of the need to change their passphrase to a
compliant version before August 1, 2007. Starting August 1st, the AWS pages
will *not* allow access to applications for CalNet ID holders with a
non-compliant passphrase. The web message to be received *only* by those
failing the automatic synchronization process will be as in the appended
text version at the end of this notice.

The new passphrase requirements are described here:

    https://calnet.berkeley.edu/passphrase-requirements.html

To repeat, once a passphrase satisfies these requirements, the AWS will no
longer display the August 1st deadline reminder to the CalNet ID holder.

For questions about the CalNet service or this notice, please write to:

Thank you,

The CalNet Team
