booting an Xserve G5

We have a 2x2GHz Xserve G5. I need to boot it off of an optical disk
to do some disk maintenance.

Tried a pair of (desktop) OS 10.3 CDs and a (desktop) 10.4 upgrade
DVD, but it would either give me a circle with a line through it or
would spit out the disk. Woops!

I don't think that all three of them are faulty. The machine is off-
site... do I just need to bring an OS X Server v. 10.4 install DVD,
and I'll be set to boot off of that? Anything funky with booting an
Xserve? (Or do I have an uncannily unlucky run of three bad disks?)
I want to make sure that I have what I need before I make my next trip.

Thanks!
-Greg
