I'll second Aron on this one. I used voice recognition software for
maybe a week or two several years back while recovering from an injury.
It was the fastest way for me to create text under the circumstances,
and it was wonderful to have. However, I ditched it for the keyboard
at the first opportunity.
A possible alternative for text generation is this little utility
called Dasher:

It's free and runs on many operating systems. It does require the
manipulation of a pointing device for text generation. It might be a
good alternative for some VR users, but useless to others.
