Current CalMail problems

During the migration yesterday of accounts to the new storage
location, a small subset of accounts became corrupted. The
corruption only affected the settings file for the accounts, which
includes the password, Real Name and any filter rules. No mail
folders were affected.

We are currently in the process of isolating which accounts were
affected. Once we have a list, we will begin restoring the settings
files from our backups.

At this time, anyone who is experiencing problems can go to the
Berkeley Internet Link page (http://bilink.berkeley.edu) to change
their password. They will need to verify their identity using their
CalNet ID and passphase. If a user has changed their password during
this time, that change will be incorporated into the new file.

We do not have an exact count at this time of how many users were
affected. If anyone has called into the Consulting line and left
their number, we will be returning those calls when the problem has
been resolved.

We apologize for any inconvenience this has caused you and your users.

Thanks for bearing with us,

Bernie Tower
