I see that this post also went to MAGNet -- note that there is nothing
to uninstall or install for Mac users who have already been accessing
BAIRS, since the plug-in is installed on the server end, not the user's
desktop.
The only change for Mac users is to authenticate to the Citrix servers
by using CalNetID@BERKELEY.EDU as user name and CalNetID passphrase as
password. This made the upgrade a breeze for our Mac users -- "ok,
everybody, just use your CalNetID like this, and you'll be all set."
Of course, both Windows and Mac users are frustrated with the funky new
interface. The first response for most users is "where are the
reports?" Clicking "Berkeley Reporting Portal" takes you,
mysteriously, to www.berkeley.edu. The trick seems to be to choose
"Browse" in the pop-up menu at the upper left, and then drill down
several clicks to find reports -- some of which have been renamed.
And why Yet Another Portal, anyway? My users tend to use their
browser's bookmarks/favorites list as their primary way of accessing
what they need. Hey, maybe this is the Ultimate Portal Solution here
on campus:

This is what you get when you add a link to blu in your BAIRS portal
bookmarks. I couldn't resist... :)
