Hi Charles,

MacSSH is a freeware application for the Classic Mac OS that is
intended for logging in securely to remote shells (via the SSH
protocol), rather than for securely transferring files between
computers (via the SFTP and/or SCP protocols).

Classic Mac OS users with a need to transfer files via SFTP might
look into the shareware utility, MacSFTP. There is no campus license
for that product, however, so your department would need to purchase
licenses for your users.

Options for Mac OS X
--------------------
A command-line SSH client is accessible via the Terminal application
included with Mac OS X, as well as via third-party terminal
emulators, such as the freeware iTerm.

Mac OS X users also have many options for transferring files
securely, including a command-line SFTP client and Fugu, a free
application that offers a GUI interface.

Fugu is available for downloading from the WSS Software site,
<http://software.berkeley.edu> and is also included on the C_at_B CD,
<http://cab.berkeley.edu>. Among several shareware applications
available for this purpose, Transmit is a slick alternative which you
might take a look at.

You can readily locate MacSFTP, Transmit, iTerm, and other freeware
and shareware applications via Macintosh software download sites such
as VersionTracker <http://www.versiontracker.com> and MacUpdate
<http://www.macupdate.com>, as well as via Apple's Macintosh Products
Guide <http://guide.apple.com/>.

P.S. I regularly use and like both Transmit, for which I've paid the
shareware fee, and iTerm, under Mac OS X 10.3.5.
