A CalNet Kerberos Auth installer for the Mac OS is available for testing at:
http://software.berkeley.edu/mac/calnetkerberos/test/
This installer places the appropriate Kerberos software, support
files, and documentation onto Macintoshes running Mac OS 8.1 through
9.2.2, and Mac OS X 10.1 through 10.3.
If you plan to use Kerberos authentication on a Mac, or have users
who will do so, you're encouraged to try out this installer, if
possible within the next couple of weeks. Suggestions and problem
reports regarding this installer, which will be included on the
Connecting_at_Berkeley 2005 CD <http://cab.berkeley.edu>, are very much
appreciated.
For Mac OS X 10.3 users connecting to Windows shares via Kerberos

Under Mac OS X 10.3 ("Panther"), this installer automates step 2, the
installation of an "edu.mit.kerberos" preferences file customized for
UC Berkeley's Kerberos realms and networks into /Library/Preferences,
as described in "2.2 Connecting to a Windows Share with Panther (OS
10.3) without AD binding"
In itself, this is pretty trivial, but some users could be more
comfortable with having an installer do this, rather than copying the
file themselves.
For Panther users, this installer also does a bit more:
- Requests authentication as an Admin user, so that copying
the edu.mit.kerberos file will work even if the currently logged-in
user lacks admin privileges.
- Installs a preferences file in ~/Library/Preferences which
adds four campus Kerberos realms to the pop-up menu in the Kerberos
application.
- Runs MIT's Kerberos Extras installer, which places an icon for
the Kerberos application in the Dock, as well as installing
a support file which allows certain Macintosh applications
(Fetch, Eudora ...) to use Kerberos authentication.
- Removes a Eudora 5.1.1 plug-in which can cause that version (only)
of Eudora to crash due to a Kerberos interaction issue.
- Installs some campus and MIT Kerberos documentation.
