My thought, as well. You might try:
1) Gently dusting the CD -- in straight motions from the inside hole
to the outside edge of the CD, rather than circularly - with a
lens/eyeglass cleaning cloth. This can remove seemingly small
debris that can impede reading of parts of the CD.
2) Using a different set of media. We likely have a set we can
lend to you, if need be.
