Hi,

We, the Connecting@Berkeley Team, would like you to help shape the
future of the Connecting_at_Berkeley CD <http://cab.berkeley.edu/>.

The 2005 version of this CD is at a turning point. We'd like your
opinions on how well it serves your customers' needs, and in what
ways, if any, it should be changed to better meet them.

The principle areas that we are addressing are:

   - Focus on security.

The campus is committed to securing its computers from attack.
The C@B 2005 CD is likely to include personal firewall software
and other security-related tools, in addition to anti-virus software,
to help meet campus security standards whose enforcement will begin
     in February 2005.

What will be the impact of this on you and your customers?

   - Separate Windows and Macintosh CDs.

The growth in the size and number of software packages on the
C@B CD means that it likely to be split into two separate CDs,
one for Microsoft Windows and one for the Mac OS.

Should these be packaged together or distributed separately?

   - Possibility of no-cost distribution.

Because the software on the CD will be required to help meet
security standards on some computers, we are considering no-cost
distribution, rather than the current $7.99 charge per CD.

How might this affect support, product perception and use?

   - Perceived need for connectivity support?

The CD's primary focus has long been on helping campus people get
connected to the Internet: via campus dial-up, on-campus Ethernet
     connections, and AirBears wireless.

Particularly within the last two years, many members of the campus
community have begun to have widespread access to broadband and
     wireless Internet connections off-campus.

How might that impact the CD as a product? How should it change
     as a result?

Thanks in advance,
Anthony Roybal
