I remembered seeing earlier this month that there was an update for
Mac OS Server 10.3 or later called "Apple JBoss 1.0" providing
"Java 1.4.2 compatibility for JBoss & Tomcat".

I'm not sure if this will help in your case, but it's probably worth a try...
