An FYI: Ch is a free C interpreter available for a variety of
platforms, including Windows, Solaris, HP-UX, Linux, and Mac OS X:

In addition to conforming to various modern specs for the C
programming language, Ch also incorporates some of C++'s object
programming features, as well as offering numerical analysis and
2D/3D graphical plotting capabilities. It can be used for teaching
the C language, as a command shell, as a tool for creating ad-hoc
scripts, CGI scripts, or applets, or an embedded scripting language
in applications.
The Standard Edition of Ch is free, and the Professional Edition is
free for academic use, as well. (The academic use license is at
<http://www.softintegration.com/download/register/license/license4chprof.html>.)
