Hi all,
I spoke with a Mac user, who was running Mac OS 9.2.2 and MS Internet
Explorer but unable to get Blu to display the job listings. The combination
is supported by Blu.
I advised her to increase the amount of memory that the browser uses and
that fixed the problem.
I couldn't find official instructions on how to increase the amount of
memory an application uses. Very quickly the process involves selecting the
browser application icon, choosing File: Get Info: Memory from the menu,
and increasing the numbers in the preferred field. I believe the default
for IE 5.1 is 8192; at least doubling that would be a good idea.
Netscape 7.0 and 7.1 for Mac OS 9 are installed with a default 20000+
minimum and preferred memory. That should be enough.
This advise does assume that you have at least 64 MB of physical RAM
installed in your machine.
[Mac OS 9 and earlier allowed users to manage memory use to some extent.
Mac OS X uses a modern memory allocation method and does not require users
to easily change such settings.]
Finally, the topic of Blu and browser compatibility was "discussed" to
great extent on the micronet list. Grab some popcorn and a soda and read
the thread at <http://ls.berkeley.edu/mail/micronet/2003/0415.html>.
