Morning Session Description The morning session entitled A Multi-Platform Approach to Directory Services Implementation will showcase how easily Mac OS X can be integrated into a variety of directory service architectures. In this highly interactive workshop, you will see demonstrations on how Unix-based Mac OS X integrates with major directory service infrastructures, including: Active Directory, iPlanet, eDirectory, and Open LDAP v3. Using servers from major manufactures like Apple, Dell, HP, Sun, and others you'll experience a series of live demonstrations and participate in active discussions that will give you practical, real-world methods for making these technologies work together on your campus. You'll have a chance to hear from, and interact with, Apple engineers with practical expertise implementing and managing directory services in a campus environment. Afternoon Session Description The afternoon session entitled Integrating Mac OS X on Campus will showcase how Unix-based Mac OS X, with its robust set of tools, can be used to manage a single Macintosh client or an entire campus full of clients. Learn about the tools integrated with the OS and discover how open source client management tools, including RadMind and RsyncX give you the power you need to manage your Mac OS X clients with ease. Drawing on the success of major universities and colleges participating in the Mac OS X Lab Deployment Project and the expertise of Apple engineers, the seminar provides real-world solutions for installing, maintaining, and managing Mac OS X systems in any environment. Topics to include: - Apple installation, imaging, and management tools; - NetBoot - Net Install - Command Line ASR - Workgroup Manager - Apple Remote Desktop - Apple Server Tools - Open source client management tools; - Radmind - RsyncX - Carbon Copy Cloner - NetRestore - Print Management - Lessons learned from the Mac OS X Lab Deployment Lab Project Who Should Attend: IT Managers Network Administrators System Administrators Macintosh Technical Managers Department Lab Managers -- A new seminar for IT professionals.
