Hi Paul,

There are two kinds of routers in the world ;) -- those that
speak AppleTalk, and those that don't. You kinda have to check
before you buy. Also, I've heard of some routers losing this feature
when the firmware is upgraded. Tread carefully.

(I just bought a wireless router + 4 port switch for home --
it routes AppleTalk over the physical switch, but not over the
wireless!)

However, that "N" in your printer name indicates that you
should be able to give your printer and IP address and print to it
just fine. If your router is doing DHCP, you'd want to reserve a
static IP address for that printer, tied to its MAC (physical
ethernet) address -- again, if your router supports this.

You won't see the campus zones, though, unless you get a
router that routes AppleTalk.

Of course, devices such as your router are generally
forbidden by CNS, though it may be less of a problem if the line on
which you installed the router is on a switched network. Also
remember that the zones are expected to be disappearing anyway, since
the campus is no longer supporting AppleTalk and IPX routing.

It's also possible to connect your printer to a computer and
have that computer share the printer, but you'd need the usb
interface on the printer; not sure if yours came with one, or if you
have to swap its network card for a usb card.

Somewhat related, CNS installed a pair of new lines for us
recently, and they were on-line about 8 days after the order was
placed... record time! About $500 a pop and $20/month ongoing these
days...

Good luck,
-Greg
