We recently purchased a new HP 4100DTN, but we didn't have an
ethernet jack for it. So, we bought a new Asante Router (FR3004LC)
to add physical connections and allow us to conenct both our iMac and
the new printer to our building's network.
Installation and configuration completed without incident, and we
could connect to the internet with the iMac, but no Appletalk zones
were available for file sharing, and other computers could not
connect to the iMac.
I didn't even attempt to configure the new printer for Appletalk with
the router; I have a feeling that I'm way, way off base on the proper
way to set this sort of thing up.
So,
1) In general, are routers of this kind compatible with existing
appletalk networks?
2) What is the correct way to configure the router and/or the
connected machines to properly integrate them into an existing
Appletalk network?
