Hi Folks:
Well, that DAT-DDS3 machine I emailed about replacing the power
supply...well, it's passed on.
So these questions have come up when considering next steps:
Stick with DDS3/SCSI; get a new one.
Upgrade to DDS4/SCSI drive, needing to upgrade to new tapes to take
advantage of higher storage capability.
Or move to AIT tape. Salesperson shared about how DDS is on its way
out; that would not have significant impact but latching on to newer
(?), supported technology is usually better. Can get FireWire AIT
for similar cost--but tapes are way more expensive.
Anyone have familiarity with these systems and relative + and - on them?
Thanks!
michael
