Hello,

Does anyone have a good OS X Software Update strategy for home
computers on slow modem lines?

For example, you might receive a particular update on a work computer
(updates are apparently downloaded as .pkg files to
/Library/Receipts) and transfer it to the home computer on a Zip disk.

For example, if I were to transfer "MacOSXUpdate10.2.1.pkg" to the
home computer and run it there, would this work or would it mess up
Software Update's logging?

As an alternative I guess I might be better off working with the
corresponding download from
http://www.apple.com/downloads/macosx/apple/, e.g.,
"MacOSXUpdate10.2.1.dmg", assuming the software update is
individually listed on the downloads page.

Any advice would be appreciated. The goal is to avoid long, painful,
20 MB downloads over a 56 kbps modem line.

Thanks,

Kalle
