Yes, a firewire drive is the best idea for adding storage space
(short of replacing the internal drive, which is possible but
probably something you'd want to have Hardware Support do for you).
Since's it's a powerbook, you probably want to purchase a
'bus-powered' hard drive such as the VST drives from Smart disk
(http://www.smartdisk.com/Products/Storage%20Products/Hard%20Drives/FWHD.asp)
or Apple's iPod (an external 5GB hard drive that just happens to
include a very nice MP3 player :) ). "Bus-powered" drives can
operated from the power supplied by the Firewire bus, which means
they don't need a separate power adapter.
