Fetch offers two methods for assigning Mac OS type and creator
codes to downloaded files, based on the filename extensions of those
files.
In Fetch's "Customize" menu, "Preferences..." option, under the
"General" folder tab, the option "Use Internet Config" determines
whether Fetch will use the 'filename extension-to-Mac type/creator'
mappings specified in the Internet control panel, or will use its
own, internal mappings.
If Fetch is using the "Internet Config" mappings, these can be set
via the Internet control panel (under Mac OS 8.5 through 9.x), under
that control panel's "Advanced" folder tab, in the "File Mapping"
panel.
If Fetch is using its own mappings, these can be set via Fetch's
"Customize" menu "Suffix Mapping..." option.
I was able to successfully change the type and creator assigned to
downloaded HTML documents using both of these options. However, it
appeared to be necessary to quit and restart the program for these
changes to take effect.
