    MAGNet,

I ran into this problem some years ago under a much older Mac OS, but
I cannot recall the solution. Our new G4 with OS 9.04 has some
folders copied from ZIP disks, and I cannot rename these particular
folders now that they are on the G4 (other folders created on the G4
or installed before we took delivery of the computer can be renamed).
Also, for some secondary folders inside of parent folders the
hierarchical file display that was present when copied always
reappears when the parent folder is reopened (I hope I am clear on
this point - if a secondary folder happened to be open when it was
copied from the ZIP to the G4 so that you could see the hierarchy of
its contents, and then you close it so only the secondary folder
itself is visible, it will still remain open with its contents
visible when you reopen the parent folder to view the secondary
    folder).

Can anyone tell me the solution to these problems?

    Thanks.

    john
