This is an announcement of a partial interruption in service this
afternoon on the Berkeley Macintosh Support Web site at
<URL:http://mac.berkeley.edu/>.
Software downloads initiated by clicking many of the download
buttons on this site's pages will fail. This is a temporary
condition, and we expect it to be resolved by this evening (Monday,
September 11, 2000). See Greg Small's note, below, for details.
Specifics:
Visitors to this site will see an error message (such as "connection
failure" or "server may not be accepting connections") after clicking
a "Download from UCB" button, then clicking the
subsequently-presented download link.
Software downloads initiated by clicking any of the "Download from
Vendor" buttons on this site are not affected by this problem. In
addition, all of the informational content on this site continues to
be available.
Much of the software which can be downloaded from this site also
continues to be available via the Cornucopia AppleShare file server,
which is accessible in the "Workstation Support" AppleTalk zone or
via AppleShare IP as the host cornucopia.berkeley.edu.
