Jerry Berkman (uclink) is joining the group; here are the initial comments
    he sent to me.

I would be happy to attend the meetings.

I scanned the outline and have a few comments.

The UCLink/Socrates name space is designed to hold names up to
40 characters (if I recall correctly). It holds both account names
and mailing list names. I think it is desirable for the user@berkeley.edu
name space to coordinate with that name space. Some people have
set up aliases on UCLink with their full names. E.g. Karl Grose has
set up karlgrose@uclink to forward to krgrose. If the user@berkeley
coordinates with the existing name space, then only Karl could set
up karlgrose@berkeley.edu. Also, once we finish converting all UCLink
accounts to the IMAP mail store, we may allow longer account names on
UCLink, as UNIX accounts are not required for the IMAP mail store.
Socrates account names will remain restricted to 8 characters or less.
