We support a variety of workstations. Some are "independent" but workstations are usually associated with one or more servers, which we also manage. For workstations running Unix/Linux, fully supported operating systems include Solaris and Redhat Enterprise Linux (RHEL), as well as Centos, which is a (free) clone of RHEL. We also can provide some support for FreeBSD, Mac OS X, SGI Irix, and other flavors of RedHat Linux.

Services we provide

Our workstation support services are similar to our unix server offerings. They include:

• Hardware purchase consultation.
• Hardware and software (OS) installation.
• OS maintenance (patch installations and upgrades).
• Application software installation, including open source software, as well as commercial packages.
• Disk space management: Tape backups and restores, log rotation.
• User management, such as adding and deleting accounts and email addresses.
• Security: OS hardening, vulnerability testing, and log monitoring.
• Security clean-up: After a security incident, we are available to assist in repairing the damage even if we were not managing the machine at the time of the incident.
