Web services provided by LSCR on a recharge basis are described below. Note that other services may be provided as well. In general, the services provided under a specific contract will be written into that contract.
LSCR will design or redesign sites for L&S departments. All sites designed by LSCR will conform to campus policies and meet high standards of usability and accessibility. Site design or redesign may include the following:
Responsibilities: The design or redesign of a site is always a collaborative effort between LSCR and the department that owns the site. LSCR cannot design a site without being given the content of the site (or a detailed description of what the content will be). In addition, because there are often many stakeholders in a departmental website, LSCR will work with one to two faculty/staff points of contact. It is their responsibility to obtain approval and sign-off from any additional stakeholders within their departments, and to serve as the sole department representatives who can provide information or request changes to the site.
If a site that LSCR is asked to design or redesign is not hosted on a server managed by LSCR, the department requesting service must grant LSCR staff access to the server. LSCR may decline to work on certain web server platforms.
LSCR will maintain existing websites. These services may include the following:
Responsibilities: As with site design, site maintenance often requires close interaction between LSCR and the department requesting service. In many cases, LSCR may need clarification or other information in order to make appropriate changes. Changes can often be implemented in numerous ways, and LSCR often must consult with departments to determine the best approach for a particular situation.
LSCR can create graphic images, including original illustrations and digital photographs, for use in websites. LSCR will also optimize images for fast download times and consistency of color palettes.
Responsibilities: As with other web services, close consultations with customers is often required.
