The College of Letters & Science maintains a primary Microsoft Windows 2000 server that stores user files and directories, and provides some network printer services. The LSCRNT Windows server is a member server of the Campus Active Directory forest. We provide file sharing services and data storage for departments which require CalNet authentication for access to shared resources on the server.

Required policies for departmental LSCRNT server usage are:

• User computer must become a member of the LSOU within the Campus Active Directory forest.
• Valid User CalNet authentication.
• Computer configured to meet Campus security minimum requirements.
• An approved Campus Firewall and antivirus installation (authorized Faculty, Staff and students can obtained the lastest firewall and antivirus software from Workstation Support Services. Please go to https://software.berkeley.edu for current and archived versions of Campus approved software).
• Up to date virus protection (configured appropriately).
• No MP3 or music files storage.
• Please always use caution when opening emails to save attachments on the server.
