Change in L&S Website Modernization Program

Funding now available throughout the year

Since the Website Modernization program began in 2004, LSCR has been helping L&S departments develop high-quality web sites to serve their diverse user populations. LSCR's web team is uniquely able to combine years of web design and development experience with a strong understanding of the academic environment; the Website Modernization Program provides matching funds so our units can better afford this professional service. For projects which qualify for funding, the College pays approximately half of the expected price, making the cost of using LSCR extremely attractive relative to comparable external design services.

Prior to this fiscal year, funding was allocated based on a competitive application process, with an annual submission deadline. At first, an annual submission process was necessary to give the program and our web team time to ramp up. Now that the program is fully functional, we are changing how funding is allocated. Going forward, the funding will still be competitive, but will be provided on a rolling basis; departments can apply for funds whenever they are ready to embark on a web project, and grants will be awarded as funds are available.

This change should allow your department to begin its web redevelopment project when it is convenient for you to do so; I hope you can take advantage of the expertise of our web team. Your web site is your department's most important communication and information resource; I encourage you to treat it as such.
