Website Modernization Program returns with more funds for 2005–06

October 14, 2005 – The Website Modernization Program, first initiated by the College of Letters & Science in 2004, is back for a second round and is now accepting applications to fund redesigns of L&S department websites.

The College began the program in recognition that L&S department websites now truly represent the College's public face to the world. Under the guidance of L&S Computing Resources director Tom Holub, the program enables L&S departments to apply for "matching grants" to help them fund redesign of their websites using the expertise of LSCR's highly skilled professional web development team.

The program is open to all L&S units, including UGIS programs and major programs within departments. Five to seven new projects will be funded for 2005-2006. A total of 11 departments applied for funding in 2004; those departments that were not funded at that time are encouraged to reapply. Applications for the program will be accepted until Thursday, November 10; decisions on funding will be made in late November.

Last year, five departments received funding. One of those projects, Integrative Biology, is now live. The other four are in various stages of completion.

More information, including the online application form and instructions on how to apply, is available on the Website Modernization Program website. Additional questions may be directed to Tom Holub, tom@LS.Berkeley.EDU, 642-9069.
