Use of the UC Seal is a complex issue and one that potentially possesses serious legal ramifications; you can find a thorough examination of these issues at the Office of Marketing and Managing Trademarks website. There are ways in which our customers have traditionally used the UC Seal and the UC Seal font that may no longer be considered appropriate.

The primary use of the Seal is as letterhead for official stationary. Many of our customers have been using the UC Seal font (only available on Macs with operating systems prior to OS X). However, the use of this font for letterhead creation is discouraged. The Office of Marketing and Managing of Trademarks wants everyone to use the new Berkeley Seal on all letterhead.
