Dozens of bright and cheerful blue banners are fluttering across campus, adorning 25 buildings. The 58 pennants, which are going up in time for Homecoming celebrations, mark each building housing departments or administrative units of the College of Letters and Science.
UC Berkeley is joining a national network of institutions that offer a long-range program supporting undergraduates who contribute to diversity and equal opportunity and who plan to earn a Ph.D. in the social sciences, arts, and humanities.
One of a handful of such institutions in the United States, Berkeley’s prestigious Center for Japanese Studies is turning 50. The anniversary is being marked with an 18-month-long celebration of cultural and educational events, ranging from baseball to global diplomacy to pop culture.
