Huang Program at UC Berkeley

The Huang Program provides UC Berkeley students with the opportunity for enhanced and intensive Chinese language instruction at Berkeley as well as language instruction and internships in China. A two-year commitment is required. Each winter, approximately ten scholars are selected to enter the program, based on their dedication to studying Chinese and their vision for the role that China and the Chinese language will play in their futures. Students attend an eight-week intensive language course in Beijing. Travel and living expenses, as well as partial tuition, are paid for by the program (students are responsible for eight credits of tuition). Upon returning to Berkeley, students in the Huang Program take fourth-year Chinese. The following summer they are awarded internships in China in fields related to their interests. Travel and living expenses once again are covered by the program.
