Costs Please see the following table of average costs of attendance determined by the Office of Financial Aid for graduate students for the nine-month academic year (2 semesters). The budgets listed provide sufficient money for most students in most circumstances. Actual expenses will vary depending upon life styles, priorities, and obligations.
* For information on fee remissions for Graduate Student Instructors, on the filing fee, and on reduction in nonresident tuition for advanced students, see the Registrar's page at http://registrar.berkeley.edu/Registration/feesched.html At present, University policies for graduate students allow most U.S. citizens and residents to establish California residency for tuition purposes after demonstrating resident status. For this reason, students from out of state are well advised to begin to establish a paper record of their presence and intended California residency as soon as they arrive. For information on residency regulations, see the Residency Office.
