Authentic audio, video, and reading materials are presented from the beginning,

Arabic and the understanding and application of grammatical and stylistic
rules are emphasized. Students deliver oral presentations and write academic

ARABIC Instructor: Professor
Muhammad Siddiq This course surveys in some depth the range of modern
Arabic literary styles. A representative selection of texts in the various
modes, genres, and discourses of modern Arabic literature furnish the
subject matter of close reading and analysis in the e course. Like the
assigned texts, class discussions, exams, and papers will be conducted
in Arabic. Students are also encouraged to keep a weekly journal in Arabic
to build up vocabulary, develop writing skills, and mark progress. Continuous
attention to Arabic syntax, grammar, stylistics, and prosody serve to
round and to enhance the students' competence in all spheres of modern
literary Arabic. 107– Arabic Historical

historians and geographers and from contemporary scholarship. Development
